Kenneth Gardner “Ken” Brown, 72, of Central SC passed away on March 30, 2026, following a brave battle with cancer. Born in Carlisle, PA, he was the son of Robert Edwin and Edith Murdock Brown.
Ken grew up in Fairfax County, Virginia and attended W.T. Woodson High School. He graduated from Clemson University in 1977. During his career he worked with Sallie Mae and The College Board in Virginia where he led and mentored teams of individuals to be the very best versions of themselves. Ken loved gardening, traveling, playing poker, all things Clemson, his fur baby cats, and especially his family and friends.
Ken is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy McDonald Brown; son Justin Brown; brother Ed Brown (Nancy); nephews Rob Brown (Shawn), Matt McDonald (Cynthia), Tommy McDonald; nieces Michelle Brown Hamric (Dave), Dani McDonald Siegel; great nieces and nephews; and cousins Patricia Martin and Edie Wise.
Ken will be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend. He rarely met a stranger, was a gifted conversationalist, and was always there to lend a hand. He will be greatly missed by all.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken’s name to the American Cancer Society or an animal shelter of your choice.
