Reverend Kenneth A. Fugate, 66, of 201 Hollingsworth Drive, and husband of Judy Plemmons Fugate, died Thursday, January 4, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Waynesville, NC, a son of Gertrude Jordan Fugate of Waynesville, NC and the late Benjamin Fugate, Jr.

Rev. Fugate was a graduate of Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute and was serving as Church Planter for the Southern Baptist Convention North American Mission Board. Prior to his latest appointment, he served many churches including, Hazelwood Bapt. Church, Hazelwood, NC, White Plains Bapt. Church, Gaffney, SC, Rehoboth Bapt. Church, Piedmont, SC, Hamburg Baptist Church, Glenville, NC, Smith Grove Baptist Church, Liberty, SC, Six & Twenty Baptist Church, Pendleton, SC, Hillcrest Baptist Church, Laurens, SC and Refuge Baptist Church, Hendersonville, NC., Red Path Bapt. Church, Rock Hill, SC and he was presently pastoring Black River Native American Bapt. Church, Orangeburg, SC.

Surviving in addition to his wife are, 3 daughters, Pam May and husband, Kevin of Easley, Kim Fletcher and husband Scott of Murphy, NC and Cindy Overgaard and husband, Todd of Hendersonville, NC; a half-sister, Patricia Fugate of Canton, NC; 3 half-brothers, Joe Fugate of Maggie Valley, NC, Jim Fugate and Jerry Fugate both of Waynesville, NC; 3 grandchildren, Jordan Fletcher, Andy Overgaard and Alex May.

Services will be 3 PM, Sunday at Rock Springs Baptist Church with burial to follow in Smith Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 PM at the church prior to the service.
