Krsto Jurlina, 81, of Central, loving husband of Marija Skibola Jurlina, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born in Zerava Zadar, Croatia, he was a son of the late Marko and Zorka Lucija Predovan Jurlina. Krsto was a very passive man. The only time we would hear him get angry was playing Uncle Andy in Chess. He used to say from time to time “live by the sword die by the sword” he typically said that when he knew we were up to trouble. Krsto was also one of the most generous beings on this planet. He wouldn’t just give you his shirt, he would open the door, feed you, and house you if necessary. Passive, generous, and insanely intelligent as he could do any math in his head before the answer could be yelled out using a calculator. He wasn’t afraid to show his skills either. Krsto was a very strong man, everyone knows Krsto was born under the oak tree. He harnessed the grip strength to prove it. Those who remember shoulder rubs understand, at 62 years young he put grown men 30 years younger to their knees. To be fair he would welcome anyone to return the favor which was a complete waste of energy. Hope you didn’t have an ego. Because him laughing while you’re trying with all your might to inflict pain and to top it off he’s laughing at you eating a meal, asking why did you stop it felt good. Krsto loved us all, but nothing like his wife Marjia. He loves her with a passion that can’t be put into words. Except Maybe Cigo DAJ mi pivo. This is not goodbye; he will always be around us and waiting for his turn to greet us at the Pearly Gates.
In addition to his loving wife of 57 years are four children, Doris Jurlina Lepore (Joseph) of Long Island, New York, Valter Jurlina (Laura) of Long Island, New York, David Jurlina of Central, South Carolina, and Sabrina Wilcox (Jason) of Easley, South Carolina; one sister, Ljuba Jovanovic of Croatia; and seven grandchildren, Gabriella Jurlina, Krsto Wilcox, Jason Wilcox, Morgan Wilcox, Christian Lepore, Jack Jurlina, and Grace Jurlina.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three siblings, Stoja Zdrilic, Nikola Jurlina, and Nevenka Nadalin.
