Rev. William Lake Chapman, 86, of 1466 Rice Road, passed away Friday, January 16, 2009, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pickens, Rev. Chapman was a son of the late Frank and Nora Looper Chapman. He was a mechanic and owner of Lake Chapman's Garage and a lay minister who never hesitated to share the love of Christ with all. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his many friends. He was the Chaplain for the Pickens Rescue Squad for more than 40 years and a member of Amazing Grace Fellowship Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Gloria Littleton and her husband, James, and Gail Owens and her husband, Ike, all of Pickens; one brother, Samuel Olar Chapman and his wife, Betty, of Pickens; four grandchildren, Matthew Littleton and his wife, Traci, Kathy Lynn Littleton and her fiance', Jerrad Ward, Titus Owens and his fiancee', Megan Brannan, and Isaac Owens; three great-grandchildren, Cody Bishop, Will and Katie Littleton; a niece and nephews, Susan Crenshaw, Tommy Hamlin, and Larry Chapman. His life was blessed with many friends and his dog, Poochie. Rev. Chapman was predeceased by his wife, Lula Mae Gibson Chapman, and a sister, Lucille Hamlin.

A Celebration of Life will be 3:30 P.M. Sunday at Arial Baptist Church, 618 Rice Road, Easley with the Rev. Rowland Bearden, the Rev. Robbie Eades, Isaac Owens, and Matthew Littleton officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery, Easley.

Escort of Honor will be the current and past members of the Pickens Rescue Squad, Rescue 7.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM to 3:30 P.M. Sunday at Arial Baptist Church prior to the service.

The family is at the home of Gail and Ike Owens, 230 Pearl Street, Pickens, SC 29671.
