LANDON C. MILLER, Ph.D. Clemson

Landon Carl Miller, 72, husband of Joan Carey Miller, died Sunday, October 4, 2009 at the North Greenville Hospital. A native of Spartanburg County he was the son of the late Carl C. Miller and Mildred Reeder Miller.

Dr. Miller received his B.S. & M. S. degrees from Clemson University and received his PhD from Auburn University. He retired after 31 years as a member of the Research & Extension Faculty in the Horticulture Department of Clemson University. He retired after 26 years as the Executive Secretary of the Carolina Golf Superintendents Association. He also served as the Executive Secretary of the S.C. Sod Producers Association and was a volunteer with the S. C. Botanical Gardens (Camellia). He was a member of the Clemson First Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by son Steven Landon Miller and wife Stacey of Clemson; daughter, Kimberly M. Wilson and husband Russell of Boiling Springs, N.C.; brothers, Michael Miller of Seneca and David Miller of Franklin, N.C. and grandchildren, Ben Wilson, Tyler Miller, Emily Miller and Priscilla Joyner. He was predeceased by brother William Miller and sister Kathyrn Stroble.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00pm at the Clemson First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Woodland Cemetery. The body is at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home where the family will receive friends on Monday from 6-8pm and will be placed in the church at 1pm on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clemson First Baptist Church, 397 College Ave., Clemson, SC 29631 or to the Friends of the S.C. Botanical Gardens at the Clemson Fund, P.O. Box 1889, Clemson, SC 29633.
