Larry Raymond Harvey

Larry Raymond Harvey, 76, of Seneca, SC, passed away early Thursday morning, October 6th, 2016 at Cottingham House in Seneca. Larry was born on May 24th, 1940, to Clarence and Goldie (née Rife) Harvey of Benton Harbor, Michigan. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1958 and married Sharon Treichel on March 16, 1963. In 1962, he spent six months on active duty in the United States Army, stationed in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, followed by six years in the Army National Guard and Army Reserves in Michigan. He began a thirty-five year career in the savings and loan industry that same year, working first in Benton Harbor, then in the greater Chicagoland area. During his final working years, he became regional manager of Advance Pay USA in Seneca, South Carolina. After retiring in 2008, Larry enjoyed extensive travels through the US, Canada, Mexico, and Europe with his wife, Sheri, and spent countless hours tinkering on his computer at his home in Seneca. Known for his sense of humor, optimism, and inherent sweetness, he was beloved by many and will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife Sheri of Seneca, South Carolina, his son Scott Harvey of Austin, Texas, his brother and sister-in-law Don and Ann Harvey of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and many nieces and nephews around the country. A very special thank you to the staff at the Residences at Park Place, Medi Hospice, and Cottingham House for all their love and support in Larry’s final weeks and days. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, November 4th, at the First Baptist Church of Clemson, 397 College Avenue, Clemson, SC 29631. Reverend Rusty Brock will officiate.
