Larry Carter (Pop) Jewell, Sr.,70, of 109 Belmont Circle, went home with the Angels to be with his Lord and Savior for rest and peace on Monday, July 27, 2009.
Mr. Jewell was born on February 26, 1939 , to the late Arthur Woodrow Jewell and Irene Carter Jewell McCarthy.
Mr. Jewell attended Easley High School, and graduated from Greenville Technical College where he obtained his DHEC license for Biological Waste Water Treatment. He also attended Tri-County Tech and Sumter Tech. Mr. Jewell was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Mr. Jewell is survived by his devoted wife and best friend of forty seven years, Avanell Willis Jewell of the home; a son, Larry C. Jewell, Jr. of Greenville ; a very special granddaughter, his Tootsie Wootsie, Colby Jewell (Colby Cole) of Charlotte, North Carolina; three brothers, Richard Jewell of Liberty, Bill Jewell of Easley and Tommy Jewell of Fort Walden Beach, Florida; a sister, Annette James and her husband Torchy of Easley and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jewell is also survived by special friends, Ray and Ann Bolding.
Mr. Jewell worked at the same plant for fifty two years and continued to work part-time as a Waste Water Treatment Operator. He never missed a day of work until forced to do so by his illness.
Mr. Jewell was a "Jack of all trades" and a master at all of them. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed joking and kidding with everyone. He loved puzzles and could solve them all.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m Thursday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home- Powdersville Road, officiated by Doctor Jim Spencer and Reverend Rodney Graham. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service.
The family is at the home.
