Larry Houston Orr, 73, of 2800 Brushy Creek Road, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at his home.
Born in Pickens County, a son of Obera Ellison Orr of the home, and the late Lake Hugh Orr, Mr. Orr was a graduate of Easley High School and a very talented musician having played the steel guitar for the Blue Ridge Quartet. He retired from Material Management Company in Powdersville. Mr. Orr was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and had served with the US Army.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are two sons, Larry H. Orr, II, and wife Melissa, of Greenville and George H. Orr and wife, Jennifer, of Pickens; a brother, Sammy Orr of Blythwood; and four grandchildren, Taylor Orr, Alex Orr, Luke Orr and Emily Orr. In addition to his father, Mr. Orr was predeceased by a brother, David Thomas Orr.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. David Gallamore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in the church at 11:30 a.m. Sunday where the family will receive friends from noon until 1:00 p.m., prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Rock Springs Baptist Church, 201 Rock Springs Road, Easley, SC 29642.
The family is at the residence.
