Larry Gene Powell, 96, of Easley, South Carolina, loving husband of Margaret Seigler Powell, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
Born in Easley, South Carolina on June 29, 1929, he was the son of the late Beno and Louise Garland Powell. Larry graduated from Easley High School as part of the class of 1948. Following graduation, he served our Country for four years in the US Navy, where he attended Airman and Mechanic School, and earned a Good Conduct Medal. Following his time in service, he worked for Alice Manufacturing – Arial Mill and Piedmont Plush Mills. Larry enjoyed sports, and played golf in his younger years, and had a servant heart, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a Hejaz Shriner and a Mason, he also was a proud member of Brandon Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina where he served as a deacon.
In addition to his loving wife of 72 years, he is survived by his two children, Deborah Powell Trammell of Easley, South Carolina, and Tony Edward Powell of Atlanta, Georgia; two grandchildren, Lori C. Jenkins (Joseph) and Sidney Graham Collins, Jr. (Melissa); and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Caroline, Matthew, Emma, Ryan, Russell, and Rachel.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, JoAnn Powell Painter.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. Burial will follow the service in Graceland Cemetery – West.
