Larry Eugene Stewart, 71, of 112 Skyland Drive, died Sunday, January 31, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Rev. Hazel Mack and Virginia Cothran Stewart, Mr. Stewart retired as an engineer with Saco-Lowell and was a member of Crosswell First Baptist Church where he belonged to the Jim Wiseman Sunday School Class. He had served with the US Army and was a member of Bates Masonic Lodge.

All who knew Larry knew they had met a friend and a man of God. He will be missed by all.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Duncan Stewart of the home; four daughters, Cheryle Wright, Anita Bishop Howell, both of Easley, Ann Wiles Singer, Simpsonville, and Joan E. Duncan of Pickens; a son, Buddy "Joey" Duncan, Jr. of Easley; a sister, Ginger Turner of Easley; seven grandchildren, Dustin Winchester, Stewart Kennemore, Selene Wright, Brooke Bishop, Heather Bishop, Joe Duncan and Robbie Duncan. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stewart was predeceased by two brothers, Morris Hampton Stewart and Robert Wayne Stewart.

Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Randy Smith and Pastor Aaron Rummage officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Members of the Jim Wiseman Sunday School Class and the Deacons of Crosswell First Baptist Church will serve as Honorary Escorts.

Visitation will be from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
