Larry Gene Thomas, 68, husband of Becky Kilpatrick Thomas, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at his home.
Mr. Thomas was born in Greenville, a son of the late Clyde and Bertha Forrester Thomas. Larry was an Easley High School graduate and a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he received his master�??s degree in criminal justice. After college, Larry graduated from the Southern Police Institute, and the FBI Academy. He went on to be the police chief of Easley for many years until his retirement in 1999. After his retirement, Larry taught criminal justice classes at Greenville Technical College. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending time with his family, and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are a brother, Henry Lester Thomas; a brother-in-law, Brian Solesbee; a sister-in-law, Kathi Kelley; a mother-in-law, Brenda Mahaffey; and several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece Erin Kelley.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Jenny Abercrombie Thomas.
No services are planned.
The family is at the residence.
