Laura Andersen Lefevre of Easley, SC, a beloved educator and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, at the age of 80.
Laura, known as Laurie by those who loved her, was born on February 11, 1944, in Danbury, Connecticut. She received a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from Plattsburgh University in New York. Laurie’s career as a teacher was marked by her genuine care and dedication, forever enriching the lives of those she taught. Laurie’s love for learning extended far beyond the classroom; she was a voracious reader who found delight in the pages of a good book, igniting her curiosity for the world around her.
Laurie and Steve were married on June 21, 1969, in Mt. Kisco, NY. They moved several times throughout their marriage, with Laurie making each new house a home. Retiring in the Upstate of South Carolina, Laurie and Steve spent many happy years living in their dream retirement house in Keowee Key. Later, they moved to the Foothills and quickly became active members of the community. Together, they celebrated 55 beautiful years of love, laughter, and companionship.
A proud member of the Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, Laurie not only embraced her faith but also found joy in sharing her voice through the church choir. Singing brought her immense happiness.
In her leisure time, Laurie delighted in playing bridge, often gathering with friends for spirited games and much laughter. She was also an avid traveler and had the privilege of enjoying adventures around the world with friends and family. Laurie was blessed with many dear friends. Carol held a special place in Laurie’s heart, offering love and unwavering friendship throughout the years.
Laurie was known for her cooking and exceptional baking, with Nana’s cookies and apple pies serving as the centerpiece of many family celebrations.
In addition to her husband, Steve, Laurie is survived by their two sons Mark Lefevre (Nami); and Matthew Lefevre (Beth); and her two precious grandsons Aiden and Caius. She is preceded in death by her parents Rolf and Carol Andersen; sister Eileen Rafferty; and brother Harry Andersen.
The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Friday, February 21st at 2:00 PM at the Chapel of the Foothills Retirement Community, 205 Bud Nalley Drive, Easley, SC.
As we remember Laurie, we take solace in the legacy she leaves behind—a legacy filled with love, teaching, and a steadfast belief in the goodness of people.
