Laura Counts Slemp, age 98 of Easley, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, September 23, 2012. She was born on February 24, 1914, the daughter of the late Fletcher and Cordelia Counts whom had 12 children. She was raised in the Hayters Gap Community of Washington County, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Guy Slemp and a grandson, Anthony Slemp.
She is survived by her three children, Wayne Slemp of Florida, Bennie Morgan of South Carolina and Betty Parker of California; she is survived by her sister, Nellie Counts of Abingdon, Virginia; 8 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews in Virginia.
Graveside services for Laura Counts Slemp will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday in the Knollkreg Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. The family will receive friends at the Frost Funeral Home, 250 East Main Street, Abingdon, Virginia, on Wednesday from 1:00 to 1:45 P.M. and will travel in procession to the Knollkreg Memorial Park Cemetery.
It is requested that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC, 29621.
Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown is assisting the family with local arrangements.
