LAURA MAE SMITH TRAYNUM, Pendleton
Laura Mae Smith Traynum "Mena", 76, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2006 at Anderson Area Medical Center. She was born October 11, 1929 and is survived by husband Norman E. Traynum of 61 years; children Lucille T. Land and husband Jim, Louie N. Traynum and wife Kay, Carol T. Cartee and husband John, Ray E. Traynum and wife Melanie, and Stanley E. Traynum; grandchildren Robert J. Cartee and wife Jennifer, Leigh Cartee Humphries and husband Jason, Joshua L. Traynum and wife Sherry, Nicole Traynum Ladd and husband Jeremy, Lacey C. Land, Amber M. Land, and Bryan A. Land; great grandchildren Emily B. Cartee, Abby G. Cartee, Gracie L. Traynum, Ella A. Traynum, and J. Hayden Traynum; brothers Dewitt Smith and Gary L. Smith; sisters Pat Miller and Grace Towe. She was predeceased by her parents Mack and Milwee Smith; brother Buddy Smith; and sister Annie Ruth Whitaker.
She was a dedicated member of Bishop Branch Baptist Church, Central. She was the secretary and treasurer of the church for 50 years, and was also the WMU director and Sunday school teacher. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at Bishop Branch Baptist Church at 11:00am Saturday, September 2, 2006 with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, September 1, 2006 at the Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The family is at the residence, 2212 Old Greenville Hwy, Pendleton.
