Laura Naomi Vazquez, age 90 passed away peacefully at Huntersville Oaks Nursing Home, Huntersville, NC. She was raised in Clemson S.C., lived in Florida, and retired to the Carolina's.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Vazquez. Laura Naomi was the youngest of fourteen siblings all of which along with her parents, Joseph Joel and Annie Newton, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter, Luis Vazquez and wife Donna of Albany GA, Tony Vazquez of Duncan S.C., Sylvia Self and husband Jud of Mooresville, N.C; five grandchildren, Tammy Leaskey and husband Jim of Waxahachie Tx, Suzanna Robbins of Hahira, Ga, Joy McFather and husband Paul of Macon, Ga, Tony Lee Vazquez and wife Laura of Lewisville, N. C., Kyle Vazquez of Winston Salem, N.C.; eleven great grandchildren, Elijah Robbins, Cameron Leaskey, Reagan Robbins, Megan Leaskey, Emma Leaskey, Hannah McFather, Zevon Myers, Abigail McFather, Joshua McFather, Piper Vazquez and Kynlie Vasquez.
Laura Naomi was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. While living in Florida her occupation was a rural letter carrier until her retirement from the postal service. While family and work were important her main focus was to live a Christian life. She was always actively involved in church and missions. In health and sickness she lived her life in a manner that reflected her commitment to God and spreading the good news of the Gospel.
The funeral will be held at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central SC, Sunday July 14, 2013 at 11:00 followed by a graveside committal service at Mt Zion Cemetary, Central SC.
