Laverne Owen Marchbanks

Laverne Owen Marchbanks, 79, wife of the late Wayne Ralph Marchbanks, of Piedmont, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025.

Born in Jackson County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Wayne Christopher and Mary Owen.

Mrs. Marchbanks was a member of the Upcountry Quilters Guild and Pickens Church of God. Along with quilting, she also loved stone-working and spending time at their cabin in the mountains.

Mrs. Marchbanks is survived by a son, Chris Galloway; a stepdaughter, Becky Nelson; sisters, Irene Owen (Harold), Shirley Rogers (David), and Velvet Owen; brothers, Foye Owen (Nancy), Bobby Owen (Crystal), and Dewayne Owen (Kellie); two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving husband, she was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Bonnie Jean Lark; sisters, Dolly Hoxit and Frances Owen; and brothers, Harold, Jimmy, and Randal Owen.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorials be made to Hospice of the Foothills, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29673.
