Lawrence Nathan Gilbert, Jr., 73, of 116 Chad Drive, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.
Born in Spartanburg, Mr. Gilbert was a son of the late Lawrence Nathan Gilbert Sr. and Maude Gilbert. He was owner of J.R.'s Auction and later worked at the Anderson County Recycling Center. Mr. Gilbert was a member of Three & Twenty Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of thirty-five years, Margaret Ellen Garrett Gilbert of the home; a son, Robert Gilbert of Sunny View, NC; three daughters, Libby Foster and husband, Michael, and Nancy Grigg, all of Landrum, and Sandra Robinson and husband, Ray, of Chesnee; a brother, Robert Gilbert of Georgia; three sisters, Thelma Edmonds of Taylors, Shirley Molden and Joyce Scott, both of Greer; a step-son, Tony Bolding of Mauldin; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-granchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilbert was predeceased by his first wife, Betty Jane Gilbert.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley.
Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
The family is at the home of a sister-in-law, Lois Czarnick, 513 South B Street, Easley, SC 29640.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lawrence N. Gilbert Fund, c/o Robinson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 387, Easley, SC 29641-0387.
