Leila Edith Smith, 93, widow of Nathan J. Smith, died Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca. A native of Central she was the daughter of the late Franklin N. and Belle Crenshaw Golden. She was a seamstress and retired from Jantzen after 30 years of service. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by son Nathan Steven (Steve) Smith of Seneca; daughters, Ann Smith of Sunset and Margaret Gibson (Ronnie) of Aiken; brothers, O. W. Golden of California and Jake Golden of Florida; sister, Lois Sloan of Georgia; 7 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by 5 brothers and 5 sisters.
Funeral services will be in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central at 3pm on Sunday with burial to follow in Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-3pm.prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Foothills, Cottingham House, 390 Keowee School Road, Seneca, SC 29672.
