Lena Hardin Hinton passed away on Dec 19, 2013 after a long journey with pancreatic cancer. Lena was known for her unwavering faith, with a strong spirit and sheer tenacity which made each day possible.

Lena was the daughter of the late Trescott Newton Hinton and Mary Hardin Keitt Hinton. She was born and raised in the Clemson area. She graduated from Presbyterian College in 1974 with a BS in biology. Lena lived and worked in Atlanta GA. She was employed at the Sutherland Asbill and Brennan Law Firm for 37 years, where she retired as a Paralegal Specialist in 2013.

Lena had a genuine spirit of goodwill and compassion toward all people and pets. She supported numerous local charities such as, Atlanta Mission, United Way, ASPCA, Life Line Animal Project, Atlanta Humane Society and Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Lena was a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed by all and she has left an indelible imprint on each of our lives. All of us are richer for having known her.

Lena Hardin was preceded in death by her life's partner, Harry R. Stamper (2012) and her beloved nephew, Trescott Lee Hinton (2011).

Lena is survived by her two brothers ("A sister is a gift to the heart, a friend to the spirit, a golden thread to the meaning of life.") Thomas Trescott Hinton and his wife Kristin Motyka of Santa Clara CA and Trescott Newton Hinton, Jr. and his wife Sandra Hinton of Chapin SC; her beloved niece another special "Hardin Girl," Anna Hardin Hinton Morris and her husband Scott Morris of Chapin SC; and both her great niece Sara Hardin Hinton of Lexington SC and her great nephew Trescott McNeil Morris of Chapin SC.

Services will be 1 PM, Saturday, December 21, at Fort Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson with Rev. Laura Conrad officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery on the campus of Clemson University.

The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon prior to the service at the church.
