Leola "Lee" Steele

Leola "Lee" Willis Steele, 91, of 803 East Second Avenue, wife of the late Doyle Edward Steele, Sr., to whom she was married for thirty-nine years until his death in 1982, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Baptist Hospital Easley.
Born in Pickens County on August 7, 1918, she was the last surviving child of the late William Thomas and Hattie Rampey Porter Willis. Mrs. Steele was a 1935 graduate of Liberty High School. She was a homemaker and a former member of the Azalea Garden Club. Mrs. Steele was a member of First Baptist Church, Easley, for over sixty years and belonged to the Fidelas Sunday School Class where she was also the class treasurer. She was a volunteer with Palmetto Baptist Hospital for fourteen years and also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for seven years.
Surviving are two sons, John Richard Steele (Jean) and Doyle Edward "Eddie" Steele, Jr., (Susan), all of Easley; a daughter, Nancy S. Eads (Bannister) of Easley; seven grandchildren, John R. Steele, Jr., (Anna), Jennifer Cox (Kern) and Jay Steele, Ruston Eads (Beth Anne), Kerri Griffith (Bill), Lindsey Fisher (Cole), and Elizabeth Steele; eleven great grandchildren, Emerson, Jack and Miller Steele, Ava, Ellis and Parker Eads, Ethan and Cade Cox, Macie and Saylor Griffith and Noah Fisher.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Steele was predeceased by a sister, Agnes Knight, two brothers, Lloyd Willis and McDuffie Willis, two half-sisters, Riley Mae Rogers and Vera Stephens, and by seven half-brothers, Larry Porter, Sr., John Willis, who was killed in World War I, Lenhardt Willis, Henry Willis, Elmer Willis, Herman Willis and Lawrence Willis.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Dr. John Adams and Rev. Rick Baumgarner officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The Fidelas Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Escorts.
Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
