Charles Leon Black, 71, of Zion School Road, died Monday, December 17, 2007 at the Hospice House of Anderson after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was a son of the late Charlie Ligon and Ruth Stewart Black and husband of Betty McKinney Black of the home.
Born in Easley, he was a retired carpenter and building sub-contractor, having built many of the houses on the Eastside in Sugar Creek, Sugar Creek Villas, Foxcroft, Merrifield Park, and in River Oaks, Chanticleer and many others. He was of the Wesleyan Faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Yuna Black of Pickens, Mrs. Richard (Michelle) Thompson of Pelzer; two grandchildren, Brandon and Meghan Thompson of Pelzer; one sister, Helen Day of Pickens; one brother, Joel Black of Easley; and one half-sister, Maybelle Rodgers of North Carolina. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother; one half-sister; and four half-brothers.
Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Wednesday at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Lewis Edwards officiating.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Wednesday from 1:15 until 2:45 PM at Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate; 1835 Rogers Road; Anderson, SC 29621.
