Leon William (Lee) Davis, 86, of Clemson, husband to Linda Stover Davis, passed away February 22, 2024.
Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., he was the son of the late Albert and Irma Critchfield Davis. He was sent to Bonnie Brae Farm For Boys at the age of 12 upon the death of his parents. Lee received his bachelor's degree from Rutgers University before pursuing both his master’s degree and PhD. from Clemson University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army at Fort Dix, N.J. and at the veterinary clinic at Walter Reed in the early 1960’s. He went on to a long and successful career in research and development in animal sciences. Lee was a longtime and faithful member of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church. He loved jogging, home improvement projects, spending time with family at Lake George, NY, and watching Clemson Football.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-one years, Linda Stover Davis; daughter, Laura Lee Davis of Bethlehem, GA; sons, Jamie Davis and wife Alisa of Greensboro, NC and Alan Davis of Buford, GA; grandchildren, LeeAnn Davis, Carolyn Davis, and Addy Davis; sisters, Esther Almgren and Edith Dufour.
Lee was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Ruth Lovas and Eva Patton.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, 101 Edgewood Avenue, Clemson, SC. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
A family graveside service will be held at Old Stone Church Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.
