Leon "Lefty" Hunter Moore, Clemson
Leon "Lefty" Hunter Moore, 86, of 313 Tamassee Drive, husband of Teresa Clark Moore died June 22, 2006 at his residence. He was born in York, SC, son of the late James Clayton and Beulah Gardner Moore. He was in the Agricultural Chemical business before moving to Clemson in 1968 to sell real estate. Most recently he was the broker-owner of Moore Ensley Real Estate. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of WWII where he served in the Pacific Theatre. He earned his BS from Clemson A&M in Entomology in 1948 where he lettered in baseball and earned his MS at Texas A&M in Entomology. He was an avid golfer and over the years hit three hole in ones on the tenth hole at Boscobel Golf Club. Surviving in addition to his wife of 56 years are daughter Michelle Thompson and husband Chip of Clemson, and two granddaughters Lou and Ava Thompson, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Ernestine Jonas, brothers J.C., Bill, Phillip, and Frank Moore. In his final years, Mr. Moore was lovingly cared for by the Reese and Henderson families.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-3 at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home in Central, with a private service to be held at a later date.
