Leonard James Cochrane, Sr., 88, of 119 Pacolet Trail, died Sunday, December 23, 2007 at Gardens at Eastside in Greenville.

Born in Charlotte, NC, he was a son of the late Roy Albert and Nora James Cochrane. Mr. Cochrane graduated Indiana Wesleyan College in Marion, IN and retired from Southern Railroad where he worked as an Agent Terminal Controller. He was a veteran of World War II having served with US Air Corps and a member of Hayworth Wesleyan Church in Highpoint, NC.

Surviving are a son, Dr. Leonard James Cochrane, Jr., and wife Leslie, of Piedmont; two daughters, Gail Fite and husband, Bob, of Tega Cay, and Gwyn Henke and husband, John, of Martinez, GA; two sisters, Lucille McGuire and Carolyn Barker, both of High Point, NC; and eight grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cochrane was predeceased by his first wife, Ruth VonCannon Cochrane and by his sdecond wife, Irene Cochrane, a daughter, Rebecca Marks, a brother, Ted Corhrane and a sister, Alberta Smith.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley, and will be taken to Cumby Funeral Home in Archdale, NC, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will follow in Trinity Cemetery in Archdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Wesleyan University, Rebecca Cochrane Marks Scholarship Fund; 907 Wesleyan Drive, Central, SC 29630.
