Leonard R. Hooper, 77, of Easley, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 15, 2011, surrounded by family and friends at his residence on Rolling Hills Circle, after a long battle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). Leonard was born August 4, 1933 in Tuckasegee, NC, the fourth child of the late Lloyd C. and Gertie Hoyle Hooper. He owned and operated the "Kar Klinic" in Easley and later retired from E.I. DuPont in Cedar Mountain, NC. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents and two infant siblings, Agnes Hooper and E.M. Hooper. He is survivied by his wife of forty years, Kaye Holbrook Hooper; by three children, Lana Harte (Robert) of Cleveland, TN, Brenda McCall (Monte) of Barnesville, GA, and Ray Hooper of Easley; by five grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson (Scott), Brendon McCall (Dana), Travis Len McCall, Britni McCall and Jesi Hooper; by four sisters, Melba Hooper of Easley, Ina Hooper of Leesburg, FL, Glana Stanley (Maurice) of Wilmington, NC, and Mildred Brown (Henry) of Darlington, WA; by five brothers, Lloyd Hooper of Augusta, GA, Kenneth Hooper (Christine) of Winter Haven, FL, Alvin Hooper (Ellen) and Eugene Hooper (Betty) all of Pisgah Forest, NC, and Mac Hooper (Irene) of Penrose, NC, and a large number of nieces and nephews.
Leonard was the clown prince of his family. His companion was laughter and he will be sorely missed by family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Robinson Funeral Home, 1425 Powdersville Road, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.
Services will be Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Jones Avenue Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday at Moses Cemetery (Wesleyan Church Cemetery) in Tuckasegee, NC.
Escort of honor will be the Huntsville Hunting Club and special friends.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Michael Welborn, hospice aide Sabrina Alexander, and Hospice Care of South Carolina for their kind and loving care of Leonard during his battle with PSP.
