Leroy "Sam" Black, 77, of 202 West Fourth Avenue, died Friday, March 17, 2006, at St. Francis Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Guy and Irene Burgess Black, Mr. Black retired from the Easley Plant of Woodside Mills and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Wimpey Black of the home; a daughter, Frances Gray of Six Mile, a brother, Wallace Black of Six Mile; six sisters, Geanell Clark, Louise Smith and Edith McAlister, all of Six Mile, Doris Teat of Liberty, Beulah Snider of Cateechee and Mattie Jo Robinson of Williamston; two step-sons, David Owens of Slabtown and Timothy Owens of Liberty; three step-daughters, Linda Baylis of Liberty, Christine Harris of Pickens and Karen Graham of Slabtown; two grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and twenty-five step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Black was predeceased by two brothers, L.G. Black and Jack Black, and by a sister, Dorothy Holliday.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family is at the residence.
