Leroy Irwin "Roy" Goldin, 83, husband of the late Jane Goldin, died Tuesday, May 12, 2020.
Born in Teaneck, NJ, he was a son of the late Arthur Goldin and the late Shirley Holland Shar.
Roy graduated from Palm Beach High School and attended the University of Florida. He served in the US Army in the Canal Zone of Panama and retired from the US Post Office after 30 years of employment, starting in Hackensack, NJ and ending in West Palm Beach, FL He also coached little league in Greenacres, FL and most recently worked at a crossing guard in Greenville, SC.
Roy was a member of the Temple of Israel in Greenville and the Senior Center in Liberty, SC. Roy was a gentle soul and never met a stranger and he loved to read all the time.
Surviving are a daughter, Stacy Goldin Israel (Jeff) of Easley; son, Alan Goldin of Jupiter, FL; three grandchildren, Alex and Ryan Israel, and Alyssa Goldin; a brother, Martin B. Goldin (Penny) of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Ellen Borseth (Max) of San Diego, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife of 53 years and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Ilene Giardina and a niece, Melissa Goldin Mertdogan
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 3:00 P.M. at the Beth Israel Cemetery located in Graceland Cemetery West in Greenville.
Mr. Goldin will lie in state prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, Easley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pickens County Humane Society, PO Box 83, Liberty, SC 29657; Pickens County Meals on Wheels, 349 Edgemont Avenue, Liberty, SC 29657; or a charity of one's choice.
The family will welcome friends at the Israel home in Easley following the service.
