Leroy Hammett, 93, of Easley, husband of the late Mary Lee Lesley Hammett, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2917 at his home.

Born in Liberty, SC, he was a son of the late Arthur and Janie Duncan Hammett. He was raised by his grandparents, the late "Pink" and Betty Duncan.

Mr. Hammett was retired from Alice Manufacturing, Ellison Plant, and was a member of Cedar Rock Baptist Church. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and loved to work in his garden.

Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Hammett of the home; sisters, Sue Sutherland of Rome, GA, Rosanne Gurley of Sandy Springs and Kay Seidenstricker of Chester, SC; and brothers, Teddy Hammett of Anderson, Robert Hammett of Charlotte, NC and Gary "Zeke" Hammett of Sandy Springs.

In addition to his wife, parents and grandparents, he was predeceased by sisters, Margaret Allen and Janice Compton; and brothers, Fred Duncan, Billy Hammett and Donald Hammett.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Interim Hospice for the exceptional care given to Mr. Hammett.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM at the funeral home.
