Benjamin Lewis Dorrity, 87 of 202 Woodruff Park Ln., husband of the late Myra P. Dorrity, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014 following a long term illness.
Born July 26, 1926 in Newberry, he was a son of the late Benjamin and Ruth Dorrity.
Mr. Dorrity was a decorated WWII veteran serving in the US Navy and was a graduate of Furman University class of 1950. He was retired from the US Postal Service with thirty two years of service. Mr. Dorrity served numerous churches as minister of music and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Dorrity is survived by his sons, David Dorrity (Leanne) and Tommy Dorrity; grandchildren, April D. Thompson, D. Neil Dorrity, Lauren and Lindsay Dorrity and three great-grandchildren all of Greenville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 25, 2014 in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum at Robinson Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 10:45 AM prior to the service in the mausoleum chapel.
The family are at their respective homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Miracle Hill Ministries, PO Box 2546, Greenville, SC 29602.
