Judge Lewis J. Merck

Judge Lewis Jacob Merck, 81, of 149 Folger Street, husband of Allowee Gilstrap Merck, passed away Wednesday February 24, 2010 at Hospice of the Upstate.
Mr. Merck was born in Six Mile, SC, a son of the late Joseph Wesley and Essie Lusk Merck. Mr. Merck attended Clemson University from 1948 until 1950. He retired as a home builder and realtor in 1990 and then served as Judge for Clemson University for 10 years. Upon his second retirement, he was a home inspector for 5 years in the Clemson area. He was a member of First Baptist Church - Clemson.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his son, Lewis M. "Marty" Merck ; a daughter, Leanna Merck Garrison and her husband, Jeffrey Reid Garrison ; a brother, Marvin Joe Merck ; two grandchildren, Kacey Merck and Alicia Merck and a great-grandson, Kaden Merck.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Wesley Merck and a brother, Derrill Merck.
Private graveside services and burial will be Saturday in Old Stone Church Cemetery with the Reverend Robert Gammon officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
The family is at the home.
