Lida Bernice Chapman Cater, 87, of 210 South 7th Street, died Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Rainey Hospice House of Anderson.
Born in Pickens, she was a daughter of the late Dennis Edwin and Louie Crowe Chapman. She was a homemaker and a member of Jones Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Ernest Franklin Cater of the home; a sister, Dorothy Fowler of West Pelzer; two nephews, Randall Chapman of Pickens, Jerry Fowler of Anderson; a niece, Kathy Cooper of Easley; two step-grandchildren, Sarepta Naylor, Kevin Cash-Holder; and a step-great-grandchild, Levi Naylor. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a step-daughter, Mary Lou Cater; two brothers, George H. Chapman, David Chapman; and two sisters, Ruth Smith and Syble Cooper.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday at Griffin Baptist Church with Reverends Mark Bernshausen and Robert Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate; 1835 Rogers Road; Anderson, SC 29621.
