Lillian Mae Sanford, age 87, of Easley South Carolina passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022, after a long and love-filled life. Lillian was born to the late Charles and Bessie Goodloe in Franklin, Alabama. After her mother passed away when she was just five years old, she was then loved by her stepmother, the late Lizzy Goodloe.
Lillian was a nurturer. She was a mother to her children, her grandchildren, her church family, her patients, and anyone else that may have needed her. She spent over 30 years as a preacher’s wife, organizing church activities, keeping the books, and helping the husband keep the church going. She loved her position and her duties. She also worked as a nurse’s aide and took wonderful care of her patients bedside. She was married to her husband, Marlin “Ben” Sanford Sr. for 66 years, who precedes her in death. They made a wonderful family together. Perhaps her favorite title she ever wore was that of “Granny”. Lillian had 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, and of that, she was very proud. She loved her family immensely.
Lillian is survived by three daughters, Bessie Janes (Donald) of Easley, South Carolina, Barbara Jennings (Chris) of Foley, Alabama, as well as Sandra Humphreys of Alabaster, Alabama.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her two sons Marlin Sanford Jr and David Sanford as well as her brother Charles Goodloe Jr.
