Lillie Caroline Kay, of Charlotte, North Carolina, received her ultimate healing and went to be in the hands of our loving Creator on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Born in Charleston, South Carolina, on May 24, 2010, she was a daughter of Andrew Marshall and Tammy Ann Nabors Kay. Lillie was fierce, independent, and unapologetic. At the same time, she was thoughtful, compassionate, loving, and creative, bringing laughter to every space she entered with her unique personality.

Lillie faced challenges with unrelenting resolve. Following her tragic cancer diagnosis, she taught herself to read despite struggling to do so previously as a dyslexic. She taught us how overcoming is a matter of motivation as it was her passion for manga— Japanese graphic novels—which ultimately inspired her. She loved Japanese culture and was learning Japanese. Following an arm amputation, she leaned further into her passion of art, emerging as a talented sketch artist. Assembling Lego sets became one of her hobbies, and she assembled many sets with one hand which others found difficult to do with two. With a passion for fashion, she loved doing her makeup and dressing up. In the last months, she also developed a passion for cooking. While still recovering from treatments, she would do her makeup and hair, dress up, put on her apron, and cook for her family. She brought vibrance with her personality, but also her love of the color pink: her clothes, her bedroom…her everything had a pink theme. Lillie loved nature: trees, flowers, and animals, especially cats.

In addition to her parents, Lillie is survived by two sisters, Karigan Kay and Emmaline Kay; two brothers, Chanston Kay (Tatyana) and McKinley Kay; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Ann Nabors; and her nephew, Cassius Kay.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. The family invites those attending the visitation to wear pink, Lillie’s favorite color, as a celebration of her vibrant life.

A private burial will be held at Ramsey Creek Preserve.
