Linda Katherine Cocke, age 71, passed away April 19, 2022.
Linda was born in Leland, Mississippi and moved to Clemson from Florida with her family at age 5. She has called Clemson home ever since. She was a 1971 graduate of Winthrop College and briefly taught physical education in Clinton, SC before returning to Clemson to work in administration in the School of Mechanical Engineering at the University. She was selected Staff Member of the year in 2005. Linda was a member of Clemson United Methodist Church and was a member of the Board of Trustees. She was a huge Clemson Tiger sports fan and hardly missed any games. In her later years, she lived at Clemson Downs Retirement Community and served on the Board of that organization. She was also active at Clemson Community Care Food Bank and the Clemson Lions Club.
She is predeceased by her parents Joseph Baird Cocke and Mary Lynn Donnally Cocke. She is survived by her sister Suzanne Cocke Ramage and brother-in-law Dr. A. Augustus (Gus) Ramage, III. She had three much beloved niece and nephews –Albert Augustus Ramage, IV (Amanda), Sarah Ramage Clarson (Jeremiah), and William Joseph Ramage (Tricia). She has also survived by grandniece Ava Ramage and grandnephews Augie Ramage, Jeremiah Clarson, Benjamin Clarson, Liam Ramage, and Davis Ramage. In addition to her family, she is survived by longtime companion Jim Shuler. She was very close with her many cousins, coworkers, and friends.
There will be a private family burial. A memorial service will be held at Clemson United Methodist Church at 3:00 PM Saturday April 30. The family will receive friends after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Clemson Community Care Food Bank or the Clemson United Methodist Church.
