Linda McCrackin Dickerson

September 13, 1947 — July 30, 2024

Linda McCrackin Dickerson, 76, of Charleston, South Carolina, wife of the late Edward Ray Dickerson III, passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

Born in Charleston, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late George and Gloria McCrackin. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in education from Winthrop University. Linda dedicated her life to education, inspiring others and nurturing young minds as a school teacher in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Texas. Her passion for teaching and her commitment to her students were evident in every classroom she entered. She leaves behind a legacy of knowledge, kindness, and inspiration that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of learning from her.

A woman of deep faith, Linda was a devoted member of Charleston Truth Alliance Church, where she found comfort and guidance in her avid reading of the Bible. Her spirituality was a cornerstone of her life, and she was known for her gentle and loving spirit.

Linda had a zest for life’s simple pleasures. She was especially fond of desserts, often delighting in eating them first when dining out. She cherished the beauty of nature, frequently finding solace in watching sunsets and sunrises. Despite her reserved nature, those who knew her felt the warmth of her kind and loving heart.

In her quiet way, Linda touched the lives of many, always offering a kind word and a thoughtful gesture. Her life was a testament to the power of love, compassion, and kindness.

She is survived by her two sons, Patrick Dickerson (Regina) and Daniel Dickerson (Marie); two daughters, Stephanie Dickerson (James Garrison) and Tamara Smyth; a brother George Clifton McCrackin II; three sisters, Agnes Dobbins (Roger), Gloria McCullouch (Rusty), Sarah Mitchell; and ten grandchildren, James Dickerson, Andrew Dickerson, Jackson Palmer Smyth, Elisabeth Claire Loring (Andrew), Greer Smyth, Gwendolyn Dickerson, Abigail Dickerson, Stella Jade Dickerson, Gretchen Smyth, and Maëlle Dickerson.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Arnold McCrackin.
