Lizzie D. Porter

Lizzie Durham Porter, 101, of 213 Aiken Street and widow of William Earl Porter, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at her residence.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Roe Darlin and Rebecca Collins Durham and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Porter was a retired employee with Harvey's Love and Care and was a housewife. She was a member of Praters Creek Baptist Church for 90 years and held the distinction of being the oldest as well as the longest continuous member of the church and was a member of the Seniors at Heart.
Surviving are two sons, Troy Porter and wife, Sara of Central and Leland Porter and wife, Virginia of Easley; two daughters, Allene P. Surrett and Reubenia P. Smith and husband, Charles W. both of Easley; four grandchildren, Lesley (Tammie) Porter, Lucretia (Greg) Myers, Brad (Lisa) Smith and Glenn Hughes; five great-granchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Hughes Roberts; son-in-law, James L. Surrett; 5 brothers; and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Tuesday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with Revs. Jason Moss and Charles Porter officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens.
Visitation will be from 12 (noon) till 1:45 PM, Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.
