Lois Dalton Gaines, 97, of 649 North Norris Drive Liberty, went to be with her Lord and Savior, May 29, 2014 at Clemson Downs.
Born April 3, 1917 at Mile Creek, she was the daughter of the late William Rector and Cora Alexander Dalton. After attending Anderson College, she was a homemaker and faithful helpmate of the late Harold G. Gaines. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Norris since 1933 and served the church in many capacities over the years.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her son, Roger W. Gaines; brothers, Rector, Bill, Grayson, Wyatt, and Jack Dalton; sisters, Gladys Green, Carol Gillespie, and Janey Garrett.
Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Platts of Liberty, and Susan Yates and her husband Stan of Norris; one sister Mildred Kelley and her husband Jim of Honea Path; grandchildren Becky (Chris) Harper, Carl T. (Sheila) Platts, Barbie (Mack) Creswell, Beth Platts, David (Jane) Yates, Karen (Wayne) Chastain, and Jason (Nancy) Yates; great grandchildren, Alex and Roger Harper, Elizabeth and Cameron Platts, Reid and Gabi Creswell, Grayson and Julian Chastain, Hannah, Lydia, and Ada Yates.
The family extends our heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Clemson Downs Retirement Center and to PH Healthcare (Hospice) for their tender and loving care of our precious Mother.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2014,at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at the funeral home prior to the service.
