Lola Childress Kirkland, 64, of Easley, went peacefully in the arms of Jesus on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late John Frederick Thomas and the late Lula Ensley Thomas.
Lola worked with Greenville County Recreation District as a Field Supervisor at Lakeside Park and also with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office as a Crossing Guard.
Lola loved to play and coach softball and was a member at Heritage Baptist Church. She was a faithful servant to the Lord and loved doing His work for others.
She is survived by two daughters, Michele Sweet (Tim) and Shayla Kirkland; two sons, David Childress (Mandy) and Michael Childress; three grandchildren, Caleb Buchanan, Madison Buchanan, and Felix Jackson; a step grandson, Mikey Boozan; five brothers, Doyle Thomas (Ginny), Joey Thomas (Jean), Steve Thomas (Denise), Danny Thomas, and Rickie Thomas; a sister, Jeannie Thomas (Larry).
She is also survived by a very special extended family who was also her caregivers, Donnie and Sarah Holt, Susan Wyatt, Amy and Ray Branch, Kathy, Theresa, and many others.
In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Thomas; and her first husband, Richard Childress.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Heritage Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
The family would like to express appreciation to the Open Arms Hospice for the love and compassion they showed Lola.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, facial coverings and social distancing protocols will be observed.
