Lolita Ellison Griffin, born November 19, 1930, died on Monday, December 15, 2008 following an extended illness. A native of Lakeland, Florida, she was predeceased by her father E. Rex Ellison, her mother Ollie Moutz Ellison, and her brother Gene L Ellison. She is survived by her husband Billy L. Griffin, daughter Cynthia Lynn Griffin and her husband David Capps, son Timothy R. Griffin and his wife Wendy Jaquith Griffin, grandson Justin R. Griffin, granddaughter Molly Ann Griffin, and several nieces and nephews. Her life was dedicated to her family and homemaking. After retiring from a career in nursing in 1977, she enjoyed the excitement of travel. She visited most of the states of the US and more than forty foreign countries across the globe. She participated in many activities during her travel, from snowmobiling in Yellowstone National Park to Safari in South Africa and walking the Great Wall of China. She enjoyed the theaters in London, the Louvre of Paris, and the shops of Hong Kong. Mrs. Griffin was an avid reader and enjoyed art quilting. She was a servant of the Lord throughout her life, and especially enjoyed serving Him through service to Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church. A visitation will be held at the Duckett Robinson Funeral Home in Central on Tuesday from 6-8pm. Memorial services will be held in the Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church, 2101 Six Mile Highway, Central, on Wednesday at 11am. Burial in the Church cemetery will immediately follow the memorial service. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the many health professionals and Hospice volunteers who provided support through her long period of declining health.
