Lora Knighton Whitmire

Mrs. Lora Knighton Whitmire, 78, wife of the late Clarence Eugene Whitmire, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, November 24, 2020.

Born in Woodruff, SC, a daughter of the late Ed Knighton and the late Sally Roper Knighton, Mrs. Whitmire was a graduate of Woodruff High School, retired from Bell South with thirty years of service, and enjoyed her retirement for the past seventeen years working at Twin Creek Resort, Gatlinburg, TN. She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church.

Lora loved arts and crafts, and camping, but her greatest love was her family. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving are two sons, Mike Whitmire (Teresa), and Donnie Whitmire (Jennifer), both of Easley; a brother, Buddy Knighton of Woodruff; a sister, Patsy Yarborough of CA; five grandchildren, Jeannie Cantrell, Ashley Cantrell, Craig Whitmire, Shane Whitmire and Jessica Henderson; and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Whitmire was predeceased by a grandson, PFC Justin Whitmire; seven brothers and four sisters.

Memorial services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, November 29, 2020 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Due to the COVID-19 Crisis only 50 persons will be allowed in the chapel. Scroll to the video player below to view the service.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM Sunday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
