Lorna Faith Fields
Lyerly
Apr 3, 1947 — Sep 1, 2026
Easley, SC
Lorna Faith Fields Lyerly, 79, of Easley, beloved wife of Scott Lyerly, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Born on April 3, 1947, in La Grange, NC, to the late Arthur Felix Fields and the late Mary Elizabeth Cardell Fields. She was a cherished member of St. Matthias Lutheran Church, where she belonged to multiple women's groups and would assist with communion.
Lorna and Scott met in school after she moved from VA to NC. When he saw her for the first time, he dropped his books and felt dizzy. He believed it was love at first sight, even though it took him six months to even ask her out. She was the only girl he ever dated, and in 1965, at 18, they were married. They lived in Alabama, Texas, and the Carolinas during his time in the Army during the Vietnam era. They had two children and two adopted children.
Lorna will be remembered for the love and deep devotion she gave to her family; they always came first. She adored her children, who lovingly called her "Mimi". Her happiest times were often found in the company of those she cherished most, creating memories that will continue to be held close by all who knew her. She enforced her motherly rules while being their best friend. She was full of laughter and happiness, and her personality was beautiful inside and out.
She also found joy in shopping with her children and in traveling to the places that brought her peace and happiness. She enjoyed visiting the beach, especially the Outer Banks and Hilton Head, and she loved trips to Disney World and Helen, Georgia. These places reflected her sense of enjoyment, warmth, and the pleasure she found in sharing special experiences. Christmas was especially special for her, and she made sure her family felt special as they came together to celebrate.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Beth Bishop, and brother-in-law, J.D. Simpson.
In addition to her husband of 61 years, she is survived by daughters, Kimberly March Lyerly, Kandyce Elaine Fuller (Troy) and Katline June Lyerly; son, William Douglas James Lyerly; grandchildren, Jesse Morris Tinsley, Jacob Scott Tinsley (Stefany) and Robert Maddox Hubert; sisters, Joyce Simpson and Cecilia Hughes (Michael); many nieces and nephews and her puppy Otis.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
May the memory of Lorna Faith Fields Lyerly bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
