Louis H. Blackston of Orlando, Florida, formerly of Easley, South Carolina, died on Monday, March 27, 2017 from complications due to acute Leukemia.
He was born September 22, 1939 to the late Paul J. and Lydia Anderson Blackston.
He was a graduate of Easley High School Class of 1958. While in high school, Louis was a football player that helped carry a small-town team to All-Stars in his senior year. After graduation, he joined the US Air Force Reserves and went to Kansas City to study and start his career in the airline industry. He worked as an agent and ramp serviceman for 45 years with Southern Airways, Republic Airlines, and Northwest Airlines until his retirement.
Louis was a Shriner (Hejaz) and continued to support the Shriners Hospital for Children. He attended South Orlando Baptist Church for 36 years. In his free time, he loved to cook and bake spending a lot of time in the kitchen and did mission work in Honduras. He was the head cook while serving in the Air Force. He was a big Carolina Gamecock fan and a NASCAR Racing fan.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Maria Martinez Blackston; a son, Jeff Blackston of Miami FL; and two daughters, Selena Blackston and Vivian Mendoza both of Orlando FL. He had 4 grandchildren, Angelica, Alex, Isabella, and Aaron. He is also survived by a brother, Carl Blackston (Linda) and many nieces and nephews in South Carolina and Honduras who loved him very much and will miss him. In addition to his parents , he was predeceased by a brother, Melvin Blackston.
