Dr. Louis Lee Henry, 81, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Clemson in 1931, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Garnett Henry of Clemson. Henry attended Calhoun-Clemson schools and earned his degree from Clemson in 1953. He then served in the US Army for two years. He earned his Masters and Doctorate Degrees from Florida State University and came back to Clemson University where he taught English for 32 years. He helped shepherd "The Tiger", the Clemson student newspaper for 25 years and was awarded the first alumnae master teacher award as well as an Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award. As a teacher and friend, Henry worked to challenge students to examine their faith and their level of commitment.

He is survived by a sister, June H. Cannon (John) of Aiken, SC; nieces, Susan (Greg) Arthur of Lilburn, GA, Leigh Ann (Jimmy) Geter of Acworth, GA; and nephew, David Stuart (Linda) Cannon of Alpharetta, GA; and several grand nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

Memorial services will be held at 11 AM, Friday at Clemson United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.
