Louise Montgomery Nicholas, 92, widow of Stanley G. Nicholas passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Dominion Senior Living in Clemson, SC.
Louise was born in East Orange, NJ, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Clayton Montgomery. She earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Hollins College in Roanoke, VA. The family moved to Clemson in 1962. A devoted wife and mother, she loved entertaining and feeding family and friends. At Christmas she made amazing fruitcakes and famous apple pies. She was an accomplished artist, finding beauty wherever she looked. She specialized in oil portraits and landscapes with wonderful clouds. She was a member of the D.A.R. and a long-time member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
Louise is survived by two sons, Stan Nicholas and his wife Kathy of Cullowhee, NC and William Nicholas and his wife Judi of Brevard, NC; grandchildren, Anna Liersaph and husband, Chris, Matthew Nicholas, Sarah Ory and husband, Jonathan, Katherine Mays and husband, Brian, and Jason Nicholas; and great-grandchildren, John Henry Ory, Clara Ory, Ivan Liersaph and Abby Mays.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Rev Suz Cate officiating. Following the memorial service, the family will receive friends in the Parish House of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested any memorials be made for the restoration of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. The donations should be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 193 Old Greenville Highway, Clemson, SC 29631 in honor of Louise M. Nicholas.
