Louise Hughey Ray, 94, of 712 Augusta St., wife of the late Walter "Buddy" Ray, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012 at McCall Hospice House.

Born May 31, 1918 in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Warren and Cora Lee Hughey. Mrs. Ray was the owner and operator of the Marquette Grocery Store, a restaurant and butcher shop on Augusta St., now owned and operated by family friends. She grew up and was baptized at Georges Creek Baptist Church and later became a member of Augusta Heights Baptist Church. Over forty years of owning the Marquette with her husband Buddy, they established many lasting relationships with customers. She will be remembered for her love of family and friends, and devotion to serving the community of Greenville.

Mrs. Ray is survived by her grandson, Samuel O�??Keefe Ray and wife Clair Thrailkill Ray; great grandson, Cooper O�??Keefe Ray; sister, Melba Rochester; nieces, Lynn Reid and Sharon Rochester; and nephew David Rochester.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Walter S. Ray, Jr. in 2003.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Georges Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Travis Bowers and Rev. Tommy Cassels officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Marquette Meat Market and Cafe, 720 Augusta St., Greenville.

The family is at the home of Keefe Ray, 34 East Tallulah Dr., Greenville, SC 29605.
