James "Lowell" Southerland, 88, of 104 Donald Drive, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010, at Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born in Greenville County, a son of the late Lawrence Monroe and Kitty Guffie Southerland, Mr. Southerland retired as a Plant Manager for Alice Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, and a former member of McKissick Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Hazel Lesley Southerland, of the home; two daughters, Jean S.Thomas and husband Willis of Lamar; Lynn S. Owens and husband Phil of Easley; two brothers, Harold Southerland of Easley and Larry Southerland of Anderson; four grandchildren, Brantlee Odom of Lamar, SC, Bryan Thomas (Shannon) of Kansas, Jill Owens of Portland, OR, and Diana Owens of Easley; four great-grandchildren, Justin and Kaitlyn Odom, and Hannah and Ella Thomas; a special sister-in-law, Grace Houston, and a special cousin Randall West. In addition to his parents, Mr. Southerland was predeceased by three brothers, Billy, Truman, and Jack Southerland; one half brother Heywood Southerland; one step-brother, Lee Chastain;four sisters, Willine Garrison, Lillie Oates, Hazel Robinson, and Mildred McCollum.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with the Rev. Mike Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family is at the home of Lynn Owens, 105 Donald Drive, Easley.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Mr. Southerland's caregivers, Michelle Henry and Dretha Dorsey, also the staff of Baptist Easley Hospital and Interim Healthcare Hospice.
