Loyce Gilstrap

Loyce Eugene Gilstrap, 87, formerly of Parkway Drive, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach.
Mr. Gilstrap was born in Pickens County, a son of the late Milton Lawrence and Bernice Couch Gilstrap, and graduated from Easley High School in 1941. He worked for Frierson�??s Drug Store in the pharmacy for over 25 years. During this time Mr. Gilstrap enlisted in the US Army and was a veteran of World War II. He later worked and retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and was a member of Easley First United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Mary Ellen Hughes Gilstrap of Myrtle Beach; a sister, Elaine Gilstrap Allen of Easley; two grandchildren, Robert Edward Bell, III and Virginia Ellen Bell and two great-grandchildren, Alexandrea Victoria Bell and Robert Edward Bell, IV. In addition to his parents, Mr. Gilstrap was predeceased by his daughter, Andrea Jean Gilstrap Bell and by his son-in-law, Robert Edward Bell, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Easley First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jim Correll officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown and will be placed in the church at 1:30 pm Sunday where the family will receive friends and family from 2:00 until 2:50 PM in the church fellowship hall, prior to the service.
