Loyd B. Chapman
Easley, SC
Loyd "Brisco" Chapman, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 7, 2023, at the age of 94.
Born on January 16, 1929, in Pickens County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late William Earl and Nealie Chappell Chapman.
Loyd pursued his passion for engineering by earning a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Clemson College in 1958. Armed with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills, he had worked most of his career at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. He also proudly served in the United States Army. He was also a proud pilot, having gotten his personal pilots license, and would often fly up from Alabama to Pickens County to visit his family.
Beyond his work and military service, Loyd had several passions and interests that brought joy to his life. He was an avid golfer and took delight in spending time on the golf course. He was also a devoted fan of Clemson Football. Another source of happiness for Loyd was traveling alongside his significant other, Janice.
Loyd is survived by his loving nieces and nephews: Cheryl Brooks, Dorsey Chapman, Linda Brissey, Brenda Hasty, Jerry Chapman, Dallas Whitmire, Troy Campbell, Sharon McGrath, and Angela Berglund-Amick.
In addition to his nieces and nephews, Loyd shared a beautiful connection with his significant other Janice Davenport and her family.
Loyd was preceded in death by his parents, William Earl and Nealie Chappell Chapman, as well as his brothers Harold, Dewey, and Jimmy Chapman, and his sisters Ruby Whitmire, Bertha C. Gebron, Mildred Barber, Francis Campbell and Ann Marie Chapman. Though they are no longer physically with us, their memory lives on within the hearts of those who loved them. He was the last surviving member of his family.
