Lt. Col. (Ret.) Herbert Hampton Lusk, 96, of Liberty, husband of the late Mayme Lusk, his wife of sixty-two years, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at R.M. Campbell Veterans Center.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Samuel H. and Thelma Ione Lusk, Col. Lusk retired from the US Air Force after twenty-three years of service and served in the Pacific during World War II.

Surviving are a son, Peter Scott Lusk and wife, Trang "Sam" of Liberty; a daughter, Janet Ellen Weiss of Hampton Bays, NY; two brothers, Sam Glen Lusk (Margaret) and William T. Lusk (Nancy), all of Easley; two sisters, Freddie Jewsbury (Steve) of Easley and Winola Watt of Columbus, GA; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, Col. Lusk was predeceased by a son, Herbert Hampton Lusk, Jr., by his twin sister, Helen Cox, and by four other sisters, Mary Wanda Lusk, Hazel Miller, Frances Mercer and Joann Allen.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Georges Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
