Easley

Luc Cyril Raeckelboom, 85, of Easley SC, passed away on September 25, 2024 after a brief illness and is now in peace with his Savior, Jesus Christ. Born on November 19, 1938 in Poperinge Belgium, Luc was a devoted husband, father and skilled craftsman.

Luc served in the Belgian Army and later came to America with little more than dreams and determination in his spirit. He was a self-made man with an unwavering work ethic. Luc had an amazing ability as a welder, wood worker and mechanical repairman.

Luc was of Catholic faith and his faith was his guiding light throughout his life.

Luc had a unique sense of humor and loved laughter. He also loved his time together with his beloved wife, Cecile, especially taking a spontaneous drive to the mountains or simply enjoying one of Cecile’s home cooked meals.

Luc retired from Michelin North America after 28 years of service. After retirement, he spent his time working with his hands using his welding and wood working skills. He enjoyed traveling and often returned to Europe where he embraced his roots and used the six languages that he spoke.

Luc is survived by his wife of 63 years, Cecile Raeckelboom, and his sons, Filip (Allyson) Raeckelboom and Christopher (Jennifer) Raeckelboom and a daughter, Sandra Gray. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Bryan (Tori) Raeckelboom, Matthew (Sydney) Raeckelboom, Harrison Gray and Fallon Gray. He was blessed to have five great grandchildren, Sawyer Raeckelboom, Teagan Raeckelboom, Ellie Raeckelboom, Hallie Raeckelboom, and Annie Raeckelboom. Additionally, he is survived by a brother, Tony Raeckelboom.

He is predeceased by his parents, Cyril and Martha Raeckelboom, as well as four brothers and one sister.
